How to read a studio listing

Class sizes, certifications, and the words studios use when they do not want to say a price.

Studio listings, including ours, are written in a shorthand that takes a while to learn. A short decoder.

Class size

1:1 is private. 1:2 is a duet, often the best value per unit of attention. Anything above 1:8 on reformers means the instructor is managing a room rather than watching you.

Class size tells you more about the experience than the price does.

Certifications

STOTT, BASI, Polestar, Romana’s, Balanced Body, Body Control. All are real and rigorous. Their differences matter far less to a beginner than whether the instructor is present and paying attention.

Words that mean money

"Intro offer" usually means a discounted block you must use within a fixed window. "Membership" usually means a rolling contract. "Class pack" is the one that expires. Ask which, and ask what happens if you get ill.
